BURGLARIES
Burglaries continue to be a problem across the north of the city. Please take the time to check that your property is secure and is not an easy target.
For example, ensure all doors and windows are securely locked if your property is unoccupied during day and/or night. This also applies to garden sheds and other outside properties used to keep personal belongings. A potential prevention measure when your house is unoccupied is to install the use of light timers in your home set to switch on at a particular time of day/ night. This can act as a useful deterrent measure to any would-be burglar giving the impression that a property is occupied.
VEHICLE CRIME
Again, this is a problem being experienced across the north of the city. A lot of the time, vehicles with SatNav cradles in the window are targeted. It is advisable that SatNav's are removed from the car along with the cradles and the 'sucker' mark is cleared from the windscreen. Even the mark left by the cradle can be a cause for a break-in. In general though, ensure that all valuables are removed from your vehicle and keep nothing of value on display.
IMMOBILISE
With the festive period that has just passed, I am sure many of you have new gadgets to play with! Make sure you get these registered on the immobilise website ( www.immobilise.com ). This service is free of charge and can be used to register bikes, mobile phones, televisions, games consoles etc - anything with an identification number really. All the best for the New Year
